To all those who've been tricked this time around: the "patriots for a moral utah" is a hoax. There is no petition to force gays to move out of Utah. It is a hoax. Repeat, a hoax. Not a very funny one, but it's either designed to just make Utah look bad or to mirror the 19th century legislation from Missouri that made it legal to exterminate Mormons to get them out of their state.
Sure would like to know who started it...

If you don't know who started this, can you share a bit more information as to how you know it's a hoax?
semprerola.blogspot.com/2008/09/9.html was the earliest I could see it appearing. Quick search check also showed it surface in July 2009as well.
Erm that web address is a spanish-language blog? I'm lost here. How do you know its a hoax?
It also said there would be a press release at 1pm and that time has come and gone. The facebook page boasts no owner, the petition says we the undersigned but has no names. DailyKos posted it and has since retracted it as a hoax. Would love to know who really created it and why...
there WAS a press conference at 1pm. I was there.it existed.
Dallas.ian -- Can you tell us more about the press conference?
As for the question why such a hoax, if it is a hoax, I just saw a post as follows, although I can't vouch for it:
"The language mirrors the Missouri law that made it legal to drive Mormons out of the state and/or kill them. (A law which remained on the books until the 1970s.) I suspect that this is an attempt (in the spirit of Swift's Modest Proposal) to extract some empathy from the Latter Day Saints, who still keenly feel the unfairness of their historic treatment. I hope it's successful."
Looks like someone showed up.

Paul Jackson and Nora Young are the names. Next step. Are these real people or is still a political hoax being carried out as far as they dare?
